It's Thursday and Wings of Scarlet sales launched officially yesterday, and I spent about 6 hours making packages after my 9-5 job. I'm very grateful for the support. You know, doing a label is not easy and it can be a scary process. We find a band we like and then invest hundreds (or for me thousands) of dollars into the project just hoping that people will be into it. The Wings of Scarlet project was a labor of love for me. Seeing them out there playing shows (and getting on Hellfest!) motivated me and I thought, let's get that release back out there. First there was back and forth with Tarnished (who did the beautiful 12") to get from him the audio files and the artwork files he used for his release and then I got DyingDaysDesign to put it into CD and Cassette format. After that, you pay for the items (in this case about $2000) like shirts, CDs, cassettes not to mention the costs for graphic design, posters, etc. and then you just put it out there and hope that people buy it. I'm grateful for those that did and for those that are going to in the future. Without that sort of support, LSR cannot function.
Let's talk about shipping for a second. It's expensive. And you can plan on about $8 US in shipping for anything. A shirt is $8 shipping. A cassette is $8 shipping, but what you may not realize is that you could literally buy 6 CDs or a shirt and 2 CDs for that same $8 in shipping. So, what I'm going to do in the next few days is add some more bundles to the store to encourage people to save money on shipping. Something like 2 CDs or cassettes for $15 or 4 CDs for $25. This not only allows me to move more items but will give you a chance to save a few dollars on music that you love. I can't change what UPS or USPS charges for postage, but I can help in other ways.
Next week, another new band announcement so get ready for that.
That's all for today and thank you for the support!
